This new work by John Hall has grown and developed from his paintings into a photographic form. These photographs document a series of “window drawings” which have been generated on various hotel windows throughout his travels.
His canvas is real space, and the marks that were once made by paint are now made with adhesive tapes. These intuitive “window drawings” are at once illusion and reality.

This work goes beyond the realms of the painted surface and is not purely representation, but involves the viewer in the complex dialogue between surface and subject.
