The bright, dynamic visual expressions are satirical: they ‘take the Mick’ of the gaze of the ‘other’ on the African Diaspora and other marginalizedgroups. At the period of the anniversary of the bicentenary of the abolition of slavery and the anniversary of the centenary of Picasso’s “LesDemoiselles d’Avingnon” her work is relevant in breaking genres, andchallenging preconceptions about difference.
