Dan
Auluk's
work is usually autobiographical in nature and looks at
themes of absence, loss and nostalgia.
The
main media he uses are painting and photography.
For
the last year or so he has been working on a project
about his experiences by looking at his life through
his interactions with his immediate family. This usually
starts of by selecting a family member and interviewing
them, looking at personal ephemera and from this doing
initial drawings and text based work
More
recently in the summer of 2006 he organised a contemporary
art exhibition in Birmingham for five working artists
where they all reacted to the agreed working title of
‘Breaking News’.
